Lyndy Wilson is a contemporary New Zealand painter of Tainui descent. She grew up and lives in the small town of Ngāruawāhia surrounded by the natural beats of the Waikato and Waipā rivers and the majestic Hakarimata ranges, a constant source of inspiration. She has a wide range, including NZ landscape paintings, flower paintings, and botanical work, but is particularly known at Art by the Sea gallery for her cubist fine art portrait painting inspired by her Tainui heritage.

Lyndy’s style can be described as diverse, eclectic, and ever-evolving, which allows her the freedom to explore a wide range of subjects. Her figurative paintings often show people in domestic scenes, while her New Zealand landscape art depicts fiords and bays in twilight, often subtly lit with a fine touch of gold.

The application of paint consists of layering thick and thin paint, transparent and opaque, brushes, palette knives, rags and fingers are used, anything can become a tool. Bold gestural movements are counteracted by the need to put things in order. This is a way to process ideas, memories and feelings, the resolved work captures the essence of the experience, the goal is to bring joy or intrigue to the viewer.
