"Past to Present exhibition, has been inspired and celebrates 20 years exhibiting with Art by the Sea Gallery. |
Showcasing works from times past to this day gives the viewer an insight into a variety of subject material that always relates back to the core of my appreciation of nature and New Zealand's beauty. An understanding of painting techniques and processes that have evolved over time are also evident in this collection. Large scale works opening up freedom and boundless paint movement, through to smaller detailed paintings, always working with an eye for detail matched with an unrestrained style. This exhibition is a continuation of 'Another part to me' which featured an extensive body of works inspired by Tawharanui Regional Park, bringing together my inspirations drawn from land, sea, sky and nature. Throughout this exhibition can be seen these influences. Whether it be the colour and texture of the bark of a Manuka tree, the warmth and dark silhouettes of an evening or dawn sky, or the metallic earthen metals. The variety of bold base colours in larger format scale provides the viewer an impact to withhold and invites different angles of perspective to fully understand the works." Rosemary Eagles |

Monstera Leaves "Simply a little close up study of leaves that hide under the shade of larger growth. Strong and shiny and resiliant with wonderful punctured like holes in the leaves. They are perfect in form. Due to the leaves being so large I guess in rainfall these holes create a passage for drainage onto the surrounding plants. Very clever, as all nature is."
