Opening and artist's talk Saturday August 17 3pm

I like to think my work evokes a peaceful and restful feeling. I love to capture a moment in time, when for a split second you stop and almost feed on something that slows your breath. Nature has lent me these moments. Inspiration for my work comes from my love of our surroundings that we are so privileged to have. My work has a common theme of our native birds, their diverse nests and feathers combined with layers of fragile voil lace and highly tropical patterned fabrics entertwined with crisp glass vessels placed with na’ive organic shaped urns. Movement is created with a whispy breeze playing through the fabrics and allowing a feather or two to float gently across often coming to rest on a delicate flower- a quiet peaceful time. Sometimes I use tapa cloth with it's illustrated stories. I mix acrylic, oils, cont’e, oil pastel and resin together to create this feeling of quiet tranquility. A private moment suspended in time with paint for ever. NB The following is a small selection of the new paintings that will be available for the exhibition. More will be uploaded closer to the opening.

		1980 Graduated Diploma of Graphic Design, Auckland Institute of Technology. 1981 Worked as a Graphic Designer for an Advertising Agency. 1984 Started work as a Finished Artist Auckland Type Setters (ATS). 1986 Commenced work as a full time Artist. Commissions of paintings for clients, private and commercial. Children’s Rooms (many being featured in House and Garden and the Herald) Large commissioned painting for Starbucks ( to support New Zealand Artists) Paint Finished The Belgium Beer House Restaurant. 2005 Became a fulltime artist.(concentrating on painting) 2007 First solo exhibition at Art By The Sea gallery, Devonport. 2014 Cashmere Bothy Arts Exhibition, The Bothy, Cashmere, Christchurch Continuing to work as painter and represented by Art By The Sea.
