I am a painter living on the North Shore in Auckland with my husband and two teenage girls.  I have studied art/ fabric design/ computer graphic design  at Unitec and AUT. I was a graphic designer at TV3 and in 2004 left to have my family and have been painting in oils and acrylic since 2012. Since then I have been involved in many group shows and my work is in many private collections. I have been an Artist in Residence at Corbans Arts Estate in Henderson and have recently spent time in Whanganui for the Glasgow St Residency.
My work focuses on a female-centric narrative that connects to my mother's Samoan lineage using imagery and colour that is inspired by my love of Pacific art. These bold vibrant and sometimes chaotic scenes are influenced also by my interest in folk art and my love of illustration. My work stems from myths, dreams or tales told and passed on. The painterly female subjects are goddesses, ghosts or beloved family long lost. Themes of love and human connection are interwoven into the narrative.

These recent works are inspired by the skilled ancient navigatiors that used the sea, sun and stars to plot their voyages. I particularly thought of the women and children that would of made these voyages to settle in a new land. While starting with these stories as the beginning point, the paintings evolve and take on their own narrative, where composition, colour and imagery become the elements of greater importance.
