NZ fine art landscape photography
Michelle Durrant
Michelle is an emerging fine art landscape photographer. Her work is majestic and captivating. She travels the length and breadth of New Zealand in search of the perfect light, atmosphere and setting to capture her sense of the land that she calls home. Her stunning pictures are evidence of a passionate connection with Papatuanuku (Mother Earth) and in particular the inherent beauty she reveals in the small things that she focuses on in the foreground - such as the various colours of moss found on a walk up to Mt Cook, pools of light reflecting on stones on a beach with Rangitoto as the back drop, or the glory of the Milky Way as a back drop for Gannet Rock at Auckland's West Coast Muriwai Beach. There is no doubting her growing professionalism and mastery of the camera and lens will provide you the viewer with a different perspective of New Zealand's special landscape scenes. Her images make you want to visit the areas and soak in the atmosphere and experience the feelings that she has captured through the camera's lens. |

"The Reward" - Tasman Valley Track - Mt Cook National Park |
"Carpet of Green" - Mt Cook National Park LTD Chromagraph on Di-Bond (Framed) ENQUIRE NOW Hiking back from shooting the Tasman Valley glaciers, I noticed this beautiful carpet of green. I love the textures of the moss and the detail of the worn pebbles. |
"The Conversation" - The Tree at Wanaka LTD Chromagraph on Paper ENQUIRE NOW While staying in Wanaka, I decided to shoot the famous tree at sunset. Its a great place to meet photographers from all over the world and have a chat. That day I made a new friend or two. |
"Happy Place" - Rangitoto LTD Chromagraph on Di-Bond (Framed) ENQUIRE NOW Getting up early is not normally my style but, I was inspired to get out of bed on this particular winter’s morning. Before dawn, during the twilight hours I captured this from Takapuna Beach. The image shows the glow of the sun and the moon on the horizon at the same time. Something you don’t see every day. So glad I got up! |
"Follow the Leader" - Sheep Mob Lake Ohau
LTD Chromagraph on Paper ENQUIRE NOW We were driving around Lake Ohau. I just love the view and it’s not everyday you happen to come across a mob of sheep, especially as an Aucklander. What a magical opportunity, I couldn’t pass up! |
Te Waikoropupu springs
Te Waikoropupu Springs in Takaka near Nelson are the largest freshwater springs in New Zealand, the largest cold water springs in the Southern Hemisphere and contain some of the clearest water ever measured. Below are some direct shots I took of the springs. |
