Born 1943 Studied at Christchurch Teachers College, Victoria University and Auckland University. Working life spent teaching, social work, personnel management and industrial relations.

Background:
Carol Readman is a self taught and accomplished painter who has produced and exhibited a large body of work for over forty years in New Zealand. Carol’s influences and strengths are within her immediate surroundings along with artists she feels an affinity to such as Doris Lusk, Austen Deans, Toss Woollaston, Colin McCahon amongst many others. While travelling through Europe in her twenties Carol discovered the French impressionists and was enamoured in particular by Manet. While in London she came across a large J M W Turner painting at the National Gallery, It was this experience that encouraged her to explore atmosphere using watercolour adding a unique delicacy applicable to her personal technique.
