For well over 10 years now Bill
has been making a name for himself as a leading New Zealand commission bronze sculptor
and ceramics teacher. In the past he has been - -commissioned to produce bronze plaques for Card Member Wines Easter show, -commissioned to produce bronze plaques as part of Sir Edmund Hillary Ice Axe memorabilia case, -commissioned to produce a copper and ceramic fountain for the entrance to The Lake House Art Centre - Created a bronze entrance-way for Wairakia Golf Course - Created a large bronze public sculpture in downtown Auckland "Invoke" was his first eagerly awaited exhibition of original wall plaques, bronze sculptures and ceramics. " I have been enthralled in the act of creation for many years now, and this body of work (the wall reliefs) represents an exciting new direction for me. I see them as a narrative about the process of creating sculpture. They have an industrial quality that is so much a part of working with cast metals, and they show a physicality that is required to produce a finished work...they challenge the viewer to look, comtemplate, and bring to bare their own aesthetic sense of form and texture to the work." |
